How Do I Advertise On the Internet?

Advertising & the Internet…There are many options when talking about internet advertising. Here are some of the most common but not necessarily what we recommend. But we can talk about each one if you are curious…Just recently Yahoo and MSN have joined forces to compete with Googles dominance with Pay Per Click advertising. If you have a Yahoo PPC account you will be prompted to allow your account to merge into a MSN account. You will then be able to manage all your former Yahoo PPC through your MSN account.

• Pay Per Click…All the major search engines offer PPC.  Yahoo, MSN and Google. To cover the internet in your area or globally you will need to advertise with all three,  however if you can only choose one, we recommend Google.  Google at this time is the most widely used search engine and very user friendly if you are to manage your own PPC account. Googles PPC program is called Google Adwords. We can help you understand and manage your own Google Adwords account.
• Social Media...This has become a very popular means to get exposure on the internet.  Although hitting a home run and getting thousands of new visitors to your website is unlikely, it may still be worth a try since it only costs you a little time to set up your account.  Facebook and  Twitter are popular social media networks.  Another popular venue is YouTube.  If your company has any TV commercials or videos on disc you may consider uploading them to YouTube. • Link/Banner Exchange…At one time this was the flavor of the day. Not so any more. 

  Although a links page is a good idea most websites do not have them today.

These are some of the most popular methods to advertise on the internet. Are they effective? That’s a good question. We recommend considering all the free avenues and at least giving the PPC a worth while effort. Set aside a budget for advertising. gather your information, keywords, demographics and let your campaign run for several months. You can pause your campaign at any time. You can also adjust your budget at any time (with Google).
